Ep 33: Timing Matters: When Not to Buy An Engagement Ring or Other Fine Jewelry

There are some scenarios when you should absolutely not give her an engagement ring, or any other jewelry for that matter. I'm not giving relationship advice in this episode, I'm here to tell you how to buy jewelry like a champ, and nothing more. In this case, how (or when) not to buy jewelry, because sometimes it's flat out the wrong time to do it.

Let's Start with an engagement ring. When should you hold off and not get an engagement ring, even though you suddenly feel urgent about getting one? Don't get an engagement ring or propose when you've just broken up. It doesn't work. I'm not gonna expand on that more, I'm just telling you the time to "pop the question," is not when your relationship hits the skids, or when it's "over."

If you mend fences and patch things up which can happen, and you both feel better because of the hiccup in the relationship, and then you wanna get married, get back on that engagement ring train. That ticket office is always open, but don't do it when you're not currently "a couple."

For those of you who are married or in a relationship, when should you not  give her jewelry? It's when the two of you are fighting. We all have ups and downs in our relationships, and there are times when we don't get along with the people we love the most. And when that happens, you should not get her the diamond stud earrings she's always wanted, or the bracelet or some sort of bauble to try to patch things up.

Wait for the storm to pass and then get her those earrings or that bracelet or that bauble. When you give jewelry at that point, your marriage or your relationship is gonna heat up if you get my drift. ;-)

I've argued that jewelry is a necessity and that diamonds are the most powerful symbols in our history, the past, the present, and the future, and that it speaks for us when we can't find the right words.

However, jewelry won't say much of anything if the two of you aren't speaking to each other. But, if or when you come back together? Geez, get that ring, get those earrings, or get that bauble, because those suckers are gonna sing to her.
